Annual event collects food to help fight hunger in local communities
MARSHALL, MINN – (12/20/16) – Runnings, your Home, Farm and Outdoor Store, announced today that a recent promotion called “Give n’ Take” gathered 3,694 lbs. of food to help fight hunger. The annual event, which was held on November 23rd, invited customers to donate a non-perishable food item at their local Runnings store. All items were then donated to food shelves within each respective store region.
“Communities are like large families,” says Dan Herrmann, Runnings’ COO. “And when members of a community have a chance to help out, they will. The food drive that Runnings sponsors each year is a great example of friends and neighbors taking care of one another.”
According to the Feeding America website, 46 million people rely on food pantries to feed themselves and their families. In total, thirty-nine Runnings stores across six states participated in the promotional event.
